Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, it went by all too quickly, but our Thanksgiving in Orlando was wonderful. It was nice to get away from the big city and enjoy some quiet time in the suburbs with family. Nathan was a terror on the flight down...sitting still is not his m.o., but enjoyed all the open space at Grandma and Grandpa's house to crawl around. Their low profile furniture was perfect for him to pull up on as well. Aside from a few bruises on his head from falling and crashing into things, we made it through the holiday unscathed. Nathan even enjoyed a real adult dinner on Thanksgiving with turkey and mashed potatoes! He loved sitting in his "big boy" booster seat at the table with everyone and was on his best behavior.

Mommy and Daddy, meanwhile, went on their first date in almost 8 months! This occurred the evening that Nathan got a real knot on his head trying to lunge out of his bathtub (of course), but we were still able to enjoy some time with Maryanne and Brian at dinner and even saw a movie. We also got to play tennis, so it was nice to have Babysitter/Grandma Geri around so that we could take a break.

The latest from the little man is a FIFTH tooth up top, more crawling to get what he wants (particularly interested in computers and remote controls), eating finger foods with his fingers (the pincer grip is coming along great), pulling up and standing on everything, and new vocalisms (we call them shouting) like "AAA." He is so happy these days...I think because he is a little bit more "independent." Not a cuddler this one, but I think he is just so cute, it doesn't matter. We are off to the doctor for the fifth time today about his ears - I am afraid he has inherited the Evans' ear problems. Hopefully he will not have to have tubes to drain the fluid that seems to want to linger there. Otherwise, all is well in Nathan-land. 8 months this Friday and off to his first Army-Navy game!
Nathan finally meets Mark Kessler! Without him, Nathan essentially wouldn't be here, given that Mark introduced his mom and dad.

Falling into Fall

I can't believe it is November already. Nathan has changed so quickly, even since my last posting. He is now (drumroll please) crawling and pulling up on furniture! Holy moly. I didn't expect this to happen this fast. One day he is pretending to crawl or crawling only for pizza and the next he is officially crawling and pulling up on anything that he thinks will hold him. Wow! The little guy is confident and independent too, like his dad. He thinks it is fun to pull up on something then let go or try to reach for something with one hand while kind of holding on with the other one. Then he is surprised when he falls. It is pretty funny.

So now we have to childproof the apartment and really pay attention to what Nathan is doing at all times. He knows exactly what he is NOT supposed to get into and that is his favorite stuff - the power cords, outlets, stereo equipment, etc. Another thing to add to the "to do" list. Of course, I secretly must admit that I am pretty proud of him. He is a go-getter, this one. Nothing is going to hold him back!

This week we had the opportunity to visit with Ann Hoyt and her boyfriend Scott again. This time we took pictures. It was such fun to spend an evening with them, especially because they do not mind sitting on the floor and playing with Nathan rather than going out. It is great for Scott to connect with family friends and for Nathan to meet Ann. We look forward to more time with them.

Well, it is officially fall and we are preparing for a Thanksgiving trip. And before we know it...Christmas! Lots of pictures to be posted, I am sure! Happy Thanksgiving to all. Nathan on a beautiful fall day in Central Park, with his Daddy

Pop-Pop and Grandma, GG, Mom-Mom, etc...(Not sure what Nathan wants to call her yet) Come to Visit

Grandma and Grandpa Evans were staying out in the Ponconos watching the leaves change, when they got bored and decided to detour to the big city. Nathan was ready for them, having just picked up a new winter coat and hat care of Patagucci. The stay was much too short and were were sad to see them go. For Grandpa, it was his second time with his new and only grandson, and it was his first time in our current apartment.

Busy Bees!

We had quite the busy weekend and so much fun with friends! On Friday, Carol, Oliver, Ann, and Sam came over to "Nathan's house" for a playdate. I realized that I could never deal with triplets, because despite our best intentions to get outside for a bit, we never left the house! There was always one baby napping or eating....It was great to see Sam and Oliver and compare notes. The latest challenge seems to be what to feed these guys, how much, when, etc. We all agreed we need an owner's manual!

Then Saturday we got to see Meghan and Emily. It had been two months and Emily had changed so much! She is such a happy little girl - laughing and smiling all the time. Nathan was fascinated with her hair. It was cute to see them interact, and spend time with Meghan outside of work.

Today we had brunch with our Canadian friend Brenna, her sister, and Katie and Mark. We also got to see a bit of the New York Marathon - Nathan's First! All he cared about were the little dogs walking down the street. Oh well.

We've been for some good walks as well, enjoying the weather before it gets too cold. The leaves are changing and it has been really beautiful. I am not ready for winter! The idea of being cooped up in the house is dreadful.

We are gearing up for the holidays - I can't believe they are almost here!
