A very merry Christmas!

Christmas in Atlanta was a nice, long time to spend with family and friends. Nathan really blossomed during his time at Grandma and Grandpa's house, becoming more vocal and more active than ever. He also learned how to "point," i.e. stretch his hand out to something and crawl faster than ever, exploring his new surroundings with ease and speed. Nathan also stood alone for a few seconds (until he realizes he is not holding on to anything). It is just more and more amazing how quickly he changes and grows.

While in Atlanta we had a great time visiting with Jen and Layton, Kristen and Annabelle, Natalie and John, Kathy, Mark and Diana, and family and friends. All were impressed with the little man and it was great to be "home" and see everyone.

On Christmas, Nathan was a little overwhelmed. He didn't quite understand all the fuss with opening presents and would have much rather eaten the boxes, tissue, and wrapping paper. He was only happy that we opened enough presents to make a pathway to the tree so that he could start pulling down ornaments! He really liked to do that. He also enjoyed "kissing" the stuffed Christmas animals around the tree.

On a sad note, over the holiday, Mom-Mom "Azalee" Evans passed away. She was almost 97 years old but had been so resilient (I think we had celebrated her "last Christmas" many times over) that I don't think any of us thought she wouldn't make it. Unfortunately, she just wasn't strong enough in the end and passed in her sleep. I am so thankful that she and Nathan had some special time together over Thanksgiving and her legacy will certainly live on through her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her passing reminds us how important family is, which is another reason why we so enjoyed being in Atlanta. I think Grandpa and Grandma Wilson really liked spending time with Nathan and did a good job of babysitting on occasion so Mommy and/or Daddy could have some time alone. Nathan was very chatty with his Grandpa and constantly made his Grandma nervous due to his penchant for sharp cornered tables and the fireplace. In spite of many bumps and bruises along the way, Nathan made it through his first Christmas and overall it was a really great holiday. We look forward to celebrating our own Christmas traditions with Nathan at home, hopefully sometime soon. The new year will bring lots of adventure - new job, new home, and more changes with Nathan. We are looking forward to each and every day!
