10 Months!

I finally have tangible proof of my "climbing" baby....see below. Nathan loves to climb on the couch, furniture, etc. and he doesn't even walk yet! Keeps things interesting...

Well, we made it to the 10 month mark! And Nathan started saying "Mama" on Saturday. His first official word. I think the next one is going to be "Ball" considering how much he loves playing ball and saying "ba ba ba." I have to say that the "Mama" is very endearing. Melts my heart.

Nothing much else to report other than we discovered that he does not like beets. The first food that he has ever not eaten. He didn't even really make a face, just a subtle protest to eating them by ever so casually dropping the pieces on the floor. Sneaky kid. I am on to him, though. And I have to say that I don't like beets either so it's ok.

So far, Nathan is just the best little kid in the world. Happy, laughs (loves rough and tumble time with Daddy), and hilarious. I can't believe in two months he'll be a year old! Wow how time flies!

Long time, still growing...

It has been almost a month since our last posting and I apologize for the delinquency...lots has been going on and I have gotten distracted from the blog. It certainly does not mean that I am not still enjoying taking pictures of Nathan, reveling in his every movement, sound, or smile, and thinking about him all the time...just haven't had a moment to sit down and chronicle everything.

In the past month, we have been looking for a new home (city versus suburbs), Scott has been evaluating his next employment venture as a portfolio manager, Nathan met the Hoyts, Grandma Geri has come to visit, Aunty Sarah has come to visit (a newly pregnant Sarah, I might add), and Nathan has been keeping up with it all with a smile on his face and a spunk that he gets from his father. The latest on Nathan's list of "news" are climbing (can't walk yet but he is very good at stairs, climbing onto furniture, etc.), two more teeth (a total of 8 now), playing hide and seek with Daddy (Nathan really does hide and it is adorable), a love of dogs and small animals, and a zest for life. We are still spending time with Sam and Oliver and the boys have finally begun to notice each other which is funny to watch.

At his 9 month checkup, Nathan was 29 inches and 20 pounds 12 ounces. The doctor said he is ahead of the game with his motor skills (feeding himself, standing, cruising around furniture, crawling, etc.) but we need to focus on his language. He still has no interest in words and only recently started experimenting with consanants like "m" and "b." He can say Mama, I should add, but only while crying...just my luck!

This past month Nathan had his "almost" television debut! Through word of mouth (Todd Brandt), we heard that a new morning show on Fox - Mike and Juliet - was looking for crawling babies. I quickly submitted Nathan for consideration and we were accepted! Only to be called the next day because they had too many babies and one had to be cut. I told them they were making a BIG mistake to cut Nathan, but they said we could still come to the studio in case one of the other four babies had a meltdown and couldn't perform in the crawling derby. Are you kidding me? Short of an accident requiring medical treatment, none of those moms were going to allow their kids not to be on national television! So Nathan was the alternate waiting in the wings...alas...the production team did realize that they made a big mistake not including Nathan and we are hoping for a second chance (it was a taped show, and they said they want to redo it live), but we did get some good toys and a great story for Nate out of it.

I have recently stopped breastfeeding, with a little pang in my heart to let go...Nathan just was not interested anymore. He wanted to be able to see while he ate and it was taking so long to try to get him to concentrate on breastfeeding that it wasn't worth it. Just like the pacifier - he weaned himself! It makes me a little sad, but I am glad that he is progressing as he should. Just reminds me how quickly time passes and that my little baby is getting bigger.

I promise to post more frequently so all you out there in "blog land" can keep up. Just got a little behind. Nathan and his buddy Sam.
Happy Nathan playing after his lunch.

A visit with the Hoyts!
Already a little lover boy. Making out with Gigi and Lola (the Hoyts' grandbabies) from the UK. His dad is so proud.
