Nathan Update - April

Walking outside

Laughing and playing...

I didn't want to take away from his birthday, but did want to make note of all the great things Nathan is doing these days. He does "headstands" (basically puts his head on the floor and expects you to do the rest), shows us where his nose, eyes, ears, toes, belly, teeth, and hair are..., loves to look at and point out planes in the sky (and also pretend to "fly" toy planes), understands about everything, and is starting to repeat words like "babar - which comes out baba," "bubbles," which comes out buba, and book. He is also getting a MOLAR poor guy. The teeth just keep coming.

We are currently in the process of transitioning from formula to milk (YAY let's save money) and from bottle to sippy cup and Nathan has become picky. My little man who ate everything in sight now makes dramatic refusals of food. He has a particular fondness for fruit, anything dairy, and an aversion to vegetables of late. His favorite food is pizza of all things and now that he has had cake for the first time, he likes chocolate. We discovered this on Easter when we had given him some chocolate eggs to hold and he disappeared with them only to return with chocolate on his face!!!
He is growing and changing every day and doing new things. He really is a little sponge, observing and mimicking, and keeping us all entertained. Fun fun at the Evans household with Nathan around!

Happy Birthday Nathan!

Well, we made it a year! YAY. Actually it was not a tough one - we have enjoyed every minute of the journey and are having even more fun with him each day.
To celebrate his first year, we had a birthday party for him in the party room at our new apartment complex. Grandma and Grandpa Evans flew up to be with him (and Grandma Geri organized and decorated the party, and also baked the cake) and we had lots of great friends join the party, like Meghan, Lisa, Katie, and Stephanie from work, Grubbs and TJ from Hoboken and Schwab, Jasmine and the boys, Magdalena came by...it was a great day. Though Nathan had no idea what the party was about, he really enjoyed being social (except for trying to escape twice) and playing with all the kids. We were amazed that he didn't get cranky after hours of being active. At the end of the party he was absolutely exhausted and took a great nap and it took him a couple of days to recover, but we have decided that he is a social butterfly and that parties are good for him.
