Other Nathan Pictures

Here are a few more photos that I couldn't resist adding. Now we're all caught up! Coming up is a trip to Aunty Sarah's house in DC, to Lake George for Walter and Erin's wedding, then to New Hampshire to join the Dixes, Nelsons, and Wrights. Stay tuned! Camp Wilson

After the wedding, we had a great time at Camp Wilson for a week (unfortunately Scott had to go back home and work). It was nice and relaxing after the wedding. Grandma Geri had taught Nathan how to jump in the pool at the hotel pool in Birmingham, however, so we had to be on our toes with him in the backyard. Nathan LOVES the pool so we couldn't go outside without him wanting to go in the pool. Nathan reminded me of our old dog, Brandy (in actions...please do not think I am comparing my son to a DOG). Brandy used to stand at the door and whine and want to get out and then when we let her out, she would whine and want to come in, and then want to go out, etc. You get the picture. Nathan would just stand at the door and whine and wave and want to go outside all day long. Thank goodness for Grandpa Wilson who took Nathan every day to feed the bluebirds and water the tomatoes, and do other household duties, which he loved. I thought Nathan was too young for responsibility but he really loved feeding the bluebirds and doing all of his "jobs."

While in Atlanta, we also got to see Kristen and Annabelle and Taylor and new baby Ansley and mommy got to spend time with Jen, Lauren, and Amanda. Yay. We also went to the Georgia Acquarium which Nathan absolutely LOVED, especially the whales and the seals. The acquariums were so big (floor to ceiling) that he could go straight up and touch them. He loved watching all the fish, though he got a little scared when they would come up close to him at the window. It was a really great place.

Atlanta was a great mix of fun times and relaxing. I especially enjoyed the naps every day. :) Camp Wilson is definitely a fun place for Nathan, except for the fact that he had to be locked into one room the whole time we were there. The kitchen was the only room that did not have something Nathan could get into so we kept him confined there.....maybe as he gets older he'll be allowed to expand his space to other rooms. Uncle David and Aunt Lauren's Wedding

Well, they finally did it! David and Lauren got married. YAY. June 2, 2007 in Birmingham. June will be a busy month for the Wilsons between their anniversary, our anniversary, my parent's anniversary, and David's birthday. Whew!

A fun time was had by all...the newlyweds led the way with the joy, love, and happiness that they share. Geri and Lee came up from Orlando and were wonderful taking care of Nathan while mommy fulfilled her duties as a bridesmaid and sister to the bride. Geri also served as unofficial wedding photographer, which was so helpful!

It was great to see so many people, many of whom had not met Nathan. Jackie and Kermit really enjoyed meeting Nathan for the first time and getting to know him. Nathan sure kept himself busy mingling at all the social functions. Many times people mentioned that he was a miniature version of his Grandpa Wilson. We have thought that since he was a little baby, in look and in approach to life, but it was reinforced at the wedding.

A funny anecdote from this weekend comes from what started as a really bad travel experience. We were delayed at Newark before departing - for many hours - and Nathan discovered the moving sidewalk. So, at 11:00 at night at the airport, in front of all of the angry, frustrated, and tired passengers, Nathan ran back and forth on the moving sidewalk. Then he discovered going the wrong way on the moving sidewalk. So, I would stand at one end and he would run run run trying to get to me, then stop to rest and wonder why he was moving backward...only to start running again trying to get to me with a smile on his face, and waving to the passengers. He had every passenger in the airport smiling and laughing. Scott and I thought how wonderful it is to have a baby who makes others happy. Anyway, bad travel experience, but Nathan made it fun.

Another funny story is Nathan's love of music. At the wedding, when the band started up, Nathan immediately ran out to the dance floor and started going crazy (see picture). He LOVED the loud music - we might have a rocker in our midst. If he had napped that day, he could have stayed longer, but no nap makes for a cranky baby so after a little bit Nathan went with our wonderful Birmingham babysitter Sarah Beth back to the hotel.

Congratulations to David and Lauren Wilson and welcome to the Wilson family, Lauren.

Long Time, No Blog

Yes, yes, I am sorry to all the Nathan (or "N Man") fans out there....his mommy has become incredibly slack and not updated the blog in a long long time. So sorry. Now I have to spend some time catching up on things with him so that later in life he doesn't look back and get mad that I didn't keep track of things. I so admire those moms out there (Grandma Geri especially) who were able to make note of all the milestones in their child's life. Everything happens so quickly that I can hardly remember when each new thing happened...the new teeth just keep coming in, he tries new sounds and new words every day, he is running, mimicking...it is all a blur. My new goal is to update the blog at least once a month with all of the latest Nathan news. Let's see what happens.

SO, anyway, since Nathan's first birthday there has been a lot of activity. Uncle Brian and Aunt Maryanne came to visit and that was a fun time. They were amazed at how much of a little person Nathan has become and I am constantly amazed at what a natural Maryanne is with kids...

Then we headed to Atlanta for Uncle David and Aunt Lauren's wedding shower and bachelor/bachelorette party. It was a whirlwind but we got to see a lot of people, meet Lauren's family, and get some pool time in for Nathan. Nathan's love of the water has been one constant throughout his development. He also got braver and was blowing lots of bubbles and putting his face in the water. Very cute. Then we were back to New York for a couple of weeks until we went back to Birmingham for David and Lauren's wedding (see the separate blog about that).

As for Nathan's development, around 13 months he became newly picky about food and doesn't trust Scott or I when we try to feed him something - he will immediately make a face and shudder, spit it out, look at it, and then either throw it on the floor or eat it. He also loves to throw food on the floor which is driving me absolutely nuts.

Nathan has 8 teeth with all four canines (molars) coming in right now - amazing. While in Atlanta with mommy after David and Lauren's wedding, he slipped in the bathtub and knocked his front teeth against the side so now one of his top front teeth is chipped. Why is it that I am the overly careful one and he chips his tooth with me, but Scott throws him around like a stuffed animal and nothing happens (maybe I should learn something from that). Anyway....Nathan is constantly covered in bruises because he still never stops moving...he runs everywhere and still maintains his curiosity and zest for life. He loves to be outside so we spend most of our time walking around looking at the ducks, throwing rocks in the river, seeing dogs, etc. He is fearless too....will run straight over to dogs and strangers to say hello. Which always makes me nervous that he is going to get bitten by an unfriendly dog (or person, for that matter). We call him the "mayor" of our apartment complex because so many people know who he is even when we don't know who they are! He constantly has a smile on his face for everyone and is a really happy kid. Can't stop saying how blessed we are.

Anyway, for fear of writing too much, I'll cut this one off and start the new blog about my brother's wedding.

Cheers! Nathan on the dock outside our apartment complex...
