Shots Stink!
Well, we haven't written in a while because Nathan's two month shots did not go well....He has been a "changed man." First of all, the doctor not only gave our little boy four shots in his two legs, but also took a vial of blood out of his arm! This was due to his newborn blood screening not processing. Needless to say, his mother is a wimp and started crying before they even began the medical work so Nathan's daddy had to stay in the room and hold him down while they did everything. It was pretty awful to hear him screaming and stayed awful the rest of the weekend. The good news is that Nathan weighed in at 13 pounds 13 ounces and was 24 inches at the doctor, putting him in the 90th percentile for his age group. Already in the top of his class! The bad news is that Nathan has pretty much been an unhappy camper for the past couple of days. Saturday was the worst, as he wouldn't let me put him down anywhere so he and I really bonded. We even went out in the pouring rain just so that we could have a change of scenery!
Today (Monday) we went to our new mommy support group at Roosevelt Hospital which I always enjoy (don't know about Nathan, but there are some cute little girls there). We talked about the fact that Nathan doesn't take naps and the nurse gave me some new methods to try to see if I can't get him to cooperate. Apparently, Nathan has so many neurons firing all day, he needs the nap to give his brain a rest!
This evening, Nathan had his first bottle, to the relief of his parents. I had a feeling, given how much Nathan likes to eat, that it wouldn't be a problem. Sure enough, as soon as the bottle went in his mouth he started vigorously eating. And eating and eating. He ate almost 8 ounces of breast milk! No wonder I had so many issues breastfeeding....Scott really enjoyed being able to share this special moment with his son. And wear the boppy.
That's the news for now. We have our lamaze class reunion on Wednesday and I will introduce Nathan to my co-workers on Thursday. Fun week!
